Carnival of Colours: A Celebration of Circus, Arts & Music
Presented by In Your Space Circus, Carnival of Colours is an exciting event that brings together the best of international and local circus, arts, and music. For two days, Derry city centre is transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and entertainment.
Having first photographed Carnival of Colours back in 2017, I have developed a deep appreciation for circus as an art form. I eagerly anticipate its return each year to witness the incredible performances crafted by the talented In Your Space team. This year marked the 16th edition of the carnival, and once again, I had the privilege of capturing its magic through my lens.
Despite the unpredictable Derry weather, the team surpassed all expectations and delivered an extraordinary experience. The shows, featuring Simple Cypher, Simon Llewellyn, Frankie Magilligan, Doris & Mable, and McFois, along with In Your Space's Youth Circus Troupe, were truly awe-inspiring.
In addition to the incredible daytime performances, the Curious Cabaret made its much-anticipated return this year. Hosted by the amazing Caolan McBride, this night-time show catered to the grown-ups, offering a captivating blend of circus acts, burlesque, and lively music to keep the audience dancing into the night.
Looking ahead, I am already filled with anticipation for next year's Carnival of Colours. I can't wait to see the remarkable new acts and creative endeavors that In Your Space will bring to delight and inspire us once again.
